Police officers who had been deployed in Nairobi in anticipation of the NASA swearing-in ceremony have been told to go back to their counties.
This comes in the wake of NASA's announcement that Odinga's swearing-in ceremony that was scheduled to happen today.
A senior officer has told the Daily Nation that Inspector General, Joseph Boinett, has urged formation heads to let officers go back to their regions to maintain law and order.
''The National Police Service has scaled down the number of officers but we have several of them on standby.'' The officer who spoke on condition of anonymity said.
There had been fears that violence would explode on December 12 as two parallel events unfolded, the Jamhuri celebrations and the swearing-in of Raila Odinga.
