Police officers in Kisii County have been accused of harassing and stealing money and property as they conduct the crackdown on the illicit brew.

Kisii University Chaplain father Lawrence Nyaanga said the officers have been harassing innocent locals who don’t run illicit brew business.

Nyaanga has condemned the officers saying they have failed in their duties.

“Police should conduct a search on the illicit brew in an honest and open manner but not harassing and stealing money and property from houses where they go for the search because several residents have complained about the harassment,” he said.

“Police officers should stop forcing themselves into people’s houses whenever they are told there is no illicit brew because this is what has made them steal money from the houses they have raided,” he added.
