Kenya police have put aside Sh.2 million for anyone who will provide information that will lead to the arrest of Al Shabaab terror suspect Ali Zira.

According to Daily Nation, security officers have issued an alert that the suspected terror mastermind is on the loose in Mombasa. The man has been linked to attacks in different parts of the nation of Lamu, Mombasa, and Garissa.  

Police officers have claimed that Zira is behind the killing of Businessman Mr. Ahmed Bakshwen, Police reservists Ahmed Salim Aliyan and Faiz Mbalaus and June 2014 Mpeketoni attacks that left several dead.

Zira, who is suspected to have joined the group in 2012, has been accused of coordinating activities of the terror group in the Coastal region.

“Police have identified a key Al-Shabaab operative who is believed to be an assassin at the coast and is said to have been the mastermind of many attacks in the region, including assassinations and beheadings. The suspect, who is on the run, is privy to Al-Shabaab activities in the coastal region and is involved in the planning and execution of attacks,” said the document, as quoted by the local daily.

The suspect is said to have several accomplices including Ahmed Said Omar, aka Dogo, who is also on the run. 

His other accomplice Hussein Said Omar, aka Babli was gunned down by police in Bamburi following a crackdown by police.
