A police post has been opened at Kivae village in Kinania location, Athi River, to curb high insecurity which has hit the area for decades.
Addressing the press at his office in Athi River on Wednesday, the area police boss, Kizito Mutoro, said the post is intended to end all criminal activities in the area.
Mutoro said construction of the post was already complete and eight administration police officers had been deployed to the station. The station was also issued with a with a police vehicle to keep vigil and patrol in the area throughout the day and night.
He said the residents had developed bad blood with the police in the past, a situation that had allegedly led to several attacks of police officers and security teams patrolling the area.
"The residents had in the past made the area inaccessible for non residents including police officers who they have attacked severally while undertaking their duties," said Mutoro.
The police boss lamented that effecting arrests of suspected criminals had been difficult even after courts had issued warrant of arrests due to residents’ hostility.
"Kivae residents should understand that security is important and we have forcefully erected that post to enhance security in the entire region and its environs," said Mutoro.
Mutoro said the area is now accessible to investors from all over the nation who own property on the disputed land.
He said the area had been a hideout for criminals who commit crimes in Kitengela, Athi River and Mlolongo.
He said criminals had been combed from the village and the post will be enhanced with frequent patrols by regular, administration police and Rapid Respond Unit, all from the district headquarters.
Mutoro called on the people owning property in the region to make frequent visits and develop them stating that Kivae, Kinania and Kimongo villages were all safe and accessible hence no cause for alarm.
