The city manager Doris Ombara said the tent was pulled out as promised after three months.

Ombara said the officers were stationed at the park to thwart any attempt by the traders who were flushed out from returning.

“The tent had to go as promised and now our askaris will continue patrolling the Park during the day and at night,” she said.

She said massive land scaping will continue at the Park to ensure it is fully restored.

Ombara said city askaris will continue patrolling the Park day and night.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu, Ombara said the plan is to build a permanent police post at the Park to provide long lasting security.

“We have long term plans of putting up a modern police post at the Park to provide adequate security to Kisumu residents who would like to come and rest at the Park,” she said.

She said the officers will work closely with city employees to enable Kisumu people to enjoy recreation activities at the Park.

Ombara said more trees will be planted to provide shade and toilet facilities put up at the Park.

“Once our plans are all implemented in the Park everybody will appreciate and will have the urge to come and rest at the Park,” she said.

Sometimes this year over 1,000 traders were evicted from the Park after an order given to them expired.

Ombara said she will not back off in her attempt to restore Oile Park.
