Police in Thika town are probing on an incidence where a Kiambu County official was allegedly assaulted by unknown men in Makongeni on Sunday evening when heading to his home.
James Mugendi a levies collector at Thika town alleged that he was attacked on his way from job at around 7pm.
According to him, the men who are alleged to be goods and loads carriers at the Madaraka market came behind him while he was heading out of the market gate and attacked him leaving him without his mobile phone, essential documents and Sh2,700 which he claimed to have had just withdrawn from his account.
He explained that the suspected gangs threatened to kill him and turned chaotic before one of them hit him on the fore head which left him with minor injuries.
Following the incident Thika East OCPD Daniel Chacha has called on his officers to immediately investigate the matter.
Chacha also revealed that they are holding two suspects at the Makongeni police station custody awaiting further investigations before they are arraigned in court.
He added that the police are also interrogating a guard that was on duty last night at the market’s gate to get relevant information concerning the incidence.
