Police in Mombasa County are probing the death of a banker in Nyali area. The bank employee, David Wakaba died on Wednesday in a Mombasa hospital after he was allegedly beaten by security guards for relieving himself within business premises, which they were manning.
The security officers are hunting down two guards who were among the four persons accused of assaulting the banker before his untimely death. He was later taken to hospital where he succumbed to injuries following the attack from the guards.
Wakaba, who was an employee of the Stanbic bank, sustained serious injuries after the incident.
Confirming the incident, Mombasa police boss Johnstone Ipara told journalists that the four, who are employees of Solvet security firm, attacked the deceased under unclear circumstances.
“As the late was relieving himself in the nearby, these security guards officers assaulted him without any other reason,” said police boss.
Ipara also said that the police arrested two of the suspects, adding that they were presented in court over the death of the bank employee but they asked the Shanzu law court to charge them with murder.
