Police in Kikuyu Sub County are hunting for a gang that has been reported to break into homes during rainy nights in the area. Speaking in his office today area OCPD SSP Mutune Maweu said that residents had reported the matter claiming that the gang was taking advantage of the rains because most residents were not able to hear them approaching and raise alarm. He further explained that the group said to be called ‘RAIA’ consists of 30-50 people has been breaking in homes armed with pangas and going away with valuables especially electronics. The OCPD further mentioned that the gang comes with a blocks of stones that the use to hit the hinges of the door to make their way in. He stated that they threaten to kill if one doesn’t cooperate. ‘I call upon members of the public to work closely with the police and give in any information regarding this gang so as to enable the police curb this type of crime’, urged the OCPD. He further send a stern warning to such gangs that terrorise residents to know that their days are numbered and they will be soon brought to book.
Janet Kimani, a resident said that the gang attacks a plot and damages all the security bulbs outside so that when you peep you cannot identify them. She added that they threatened to kill anyone who dares to scream for help
She explains that during raining nights she can't sleep because she fears for her safety.
