Speaking to the press at his office over the weekend, the AP boss said that cases of drug peddling are on the rise in some parts of Thika.

He said they have information on drug peddlers which he indicated they are using to trail and arrest the suspects.

“We want to warn those engaging in drug peddling that their days are numbered,” he said, adding that youths are being lured into drug peddling.

The commandant said that a large number of young people are being used as drug peddlers, a move he said has contributed to high rate of crime in the area.

Obonyo said that they will launch a crackdown on areas believed to be hideouts of drug peddlers and other criminals in the area.

He said they will not tolerate any form of crime, adding that the public should help the police with information that will lead to arrest of criminals.

Meanwhile, the commandant said that a manhunt for the owner of a house where drugs worth Sh2 million were recovered on Thursday is ongoing.

The police raided the house and netted bhang and other drugs as the suspects escaped.

“We are still searching for the owner of the house and other suspects in connection to the Thursday raid at a warehouse in Kiganjo estate,” he said.

The commandant said that police will not stop until all criminals elements in the area are wiped out.
