Kiambu deputy Commissioner Muthama Mwenda has confirmed the arrest of six suspects at an illegal brewery.
The six are suspected to have been producing second generation liquor in Kiambu County. They were arrested on Tuesday.
Mwenda said the product manufactured by the suspects were counterfeit, and that the offense is serious since it can lead to loss of lives of innocent Kenyans.
Also, the suspects were using a name of a registered company without the company's consent.
Mwenda was accompanied by Ruiru Director of Criminal Investigations Mr David Chebil who revealed that the six were nabbed at Mugutha village.
Chebil also said the suspects were hiding in Juja sub-county at a house that had distillery machinery.
''We have managed to arrest six people but one suspect identified as Miriam Wanja managed to escape.we are going to continue looking for her untill we find her.this is a serious offense,'' said Mwenda.
