Garissa Sub County Deputy Commissioner Hiddi Galgallo has raised alarm over high rate of youth engaging in criminal activities.

Galgallo says that the rate at which young people are being lured to criminal activities is alarming.

Speaking to journalists in Garissa Town, the commissioner claimed that criminal goons are now using teenagers to advance their criminal acts.

“The rate at which young people are being lured into crime is worrying and we have launched thorough investigation to crash criminal gangs that could be luring teenagers into crime,” he said.

Galgallo urged parents to monitor their teenagers especially this holiday season.

“Parents must take the initiative to monitor and watch their children’s steps   to prevent from being lured into crime,” he said.

The commissioner said that police will not tolerate criminals as the country heads to the August 8 polls.

 Galgallo said that police will crash criminals who will take advance of the elections to cause mayhem.

The commissioner that adequate security measures have been put in place to guarantee local’s safety before, during, and after the August 8 polls.

He urged locals to volunteer information that will lead to arrest of criminal gangs said to be causing havoc in some parts of the county.

 There have been concerns over rise in petty criminal activities allegedly committed by young people within Garissa.

On Friday, Garissa Town MP Aden Duale asked the police to crack the whip on criminals wreaking havoc. Duale said that he has received complaints from locals over alleged rise in criminal activities.
