Police in Likoni have raised a security alert after a 56-year-old man was killed on Monday night.
Likoni OCPD Benjamin Rotich said the man's body was found along a road at Shika Adabu area raising concern over the return of criminal gangs in the area. He, however, said police will deal with them.
The unidentified man's body Rotich said had deep cuts on the hands implying he may have tried to resist the attackers who had machetes.
Police have launched investigations into the incident and have promised to bring the man's killers to book.
The man's body was taken to the Likoni sub county hospital mortuary.
The body was recovered hours before police gunned down three suspected members of a knife-wielding gang in Mtongwe area in Likoni sub-county.
OCPD Benjamin Rotich said the three are said to be members of the outlawed Chafu group,a notorious criminal gang that terrorizes residents especially at Mtongwe.
The killing of the three now brings to nine the total number of suspected thugs killed by police in Mombasa town in the last two weeks.
All the six shot dead before Monday were said to be members of the dreaded 'Wakali Kwana' re-known gang that steals from pedestrians in broad day light.
