Police in Mai Mahiu have recovered cartridges in a quarry a few days after the disappearance of a firearm and 30 rounds of ammunition from the Mai Mahiu police station.
Already, two suspects have been arrested following the loss of an AK 47 rifle from the house of a police office last week.
The 21cartridges were recovered on Tuesday morning after a resident reported hearing the sound of gunshots from a nearby quarry.
Police sources said the gunshots were reported around 3am on Tuesday, leading to massive operation during which the cartridges were found in a quarry.
Naivasha sub-county commisioner Abraham Kemboi confirmed the discovery of the 21 cartridges but said the gun is yet to be recovered.
“So far we have recovered catridges and I believe the gun will also be recovered soon,” said Kemboi
