Detectives in Mombasa have recovered a G3 rifle that was stolen from the Likoni police station in June this year.
The rifle was found in Mrima on Monday following a tip off from members of the public.
Confirming the incident, Likoni OCPD Willy Simba said police managed to nab one suspect.
The OCPD said the 30-year-old suspect, Rama Ali, will be questioned by Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) officers to determine if he has links to the al-Shabaab militia group.
Simba said the weapon, which had damaged parts, is suspected of being used by various criminals in carrying out robberies in different parts of the county.
The same rifle is believed to have been used by the gunman who killed Godwin Kwalera, a bar attendant at Radinas club.
"This is a good lead. All suspects will be arrested," said Simba.
"Our officers are hunting for more suspects. We thank members of the public for their collaboration,” he said, as quoted by The Star.
