Police in Laikipia have recovered 85 animals that were stolen by suspected Baringo cattle rustlers

On Thursday afternoon, 4 armed raiders attacked Wangwachi village in Ol Moran ward and drove away 19 cows, 21 sheep, and 45 sheep.

The owners of the animals identified as Peter Ndiritu, James Maina and David Wandere were grazing the animals when the rustlers attacked them and escaped with the animals through the Laikipia nature conservancy.

Simon Kipkeu, Laikipia police commander said the rustlers were armed with AK47 and  G3 rifles.

He said when police officers were notified of the incident, they put a trap at Kuki Galmann ranch where police exchanged fire with the raiders.

"No police were injured but we suspect the cattle rustlers sustained bullet wounds,'' he said.

He urged members of the public to volunteer information to the police for the suspect to be arrested.
