Its good news for Laikipia pastoralists after police officers reported having recovered 85 animals stolen by rustlers suspected to be from Baringo.
Laikipia county police commander Simon Kipkeu said the raiders were armed with AK-47 and G3 rifles. He said they drove the animals through the Laikipia Nature Conservancy.
The police waylaid the rustlers at Kuki Galmann-owned ranch after a tip-off from the public.
An exchange of firearms was experienced for more than two hours before the rustlers surrendered, no police officer was injured during the exchange but the rustlers sustained gunshot wounds.
