Police in Nakuru have recovered goods worth about Sh300,000 in Ponda Mali estate believed to have been stolen from different premises.
The recovery, which was as a result of joint effort from the members of the public and the police on Friday led to where the goods had been stored before being sold out.
Deputy police commander Barnabas Kimutai, who confirmed the incident, said that the goods had been stolen from several shops across the town and break-ins in some residential houses when the owners were out.
“We have recovered these items estimated to be worth Sh300,000. Members of the public alerted us about suspected stolen goods and the police responded immediately. We managed to apprehend one suspect linked to the crime and we are still in pursuit of his cohorts,” Kimutai said.
Kimutai also thanked the public for liaising with police officers to curb crime cases, which have been on the rise in several parts of the town.
Among the items recovered include clothes, refrigerators, six television sets, two gas cylinders, weighing machines, among other items.
Police have now urged anyone with a complaint with regard to stolen goods to report to them immediately.
Additionally, members of the public have been urged to be watchdogs to assist the police in streamlining security plans and ensure safety on their part.
