The police recruitment exercise kicked off on Monday, with the hope that 10,000 candidates will be accommodated to the security docket in a free and fair process.
The inspector general of police, Joseph Boinnet has issued a stern warning to anyone who is in the habit of giving or soliciting for bribes noting that such actions would lead to immediate prosecutions in the court of law.
In Nairobi, one person was arrested for attempting to defraud a family of sh50, 000 claiming that he was in a position to help their son get the job. To curb such incidences, the government has issued toll free numbers where the public can reports such acts of corruption. The numbers are 999 and 112. The exercise is scheduled to take place in 331 centres all over the 290 constituencies in the country.
Some of the qualifications for one to join the police include the following;
One should be a Kenyan citizen by birth or naturalisation, be in possession of a valid and genuine Kenyan national ID should have an original KCSE certificate from KNEC with a minimum grade of D+ and a minimum subject grade of D+ in either English or Kiswahili. One should also be physically and mentally fit and within the age bracket o 18 to 28 years old.
Only the police officers appointed by the IG will conduct and oversee the process.
