Following President Kenyatta’s orders, the National Police Service chairman, Johnston Kavuludi has said that more police will be recruited in the police force.
The exercise will see the police recruit 10,000 more officers to help boost Kenyan security.
President Kenyatta earlier said the exercise will help boost the security of Kenya on the borders and within the country. He said the nation was suffering insecurity like Al-Shabaab attacks and cattle rustling in some places which needed to be dealt with. He also said if Kenya will achieve peace, it will be easier to be developed since insecurity is one of the issues affecting development.
Kavuludi said the exercise, which is set to begin on April 4, will be free, therefore, nobody should be asked to pay anything.
In the previous recruitment exercises, some police have been accused of receiving bribes to favour some recruits. He revealed that his commission had for the past three weeks discussed on how it will conduct the exercise to ensure it is successful. He said the exercise will take place in all the 290 constituencies countrywide and that it will be run from 8 am to 5 pm.
