Officer in charge of police recruitment exercise in Nakuru Peter Macharia has dismissed allegations that the process has been influenced by politicians in the region, stating that the exercise which kicked off on Monday was free and fair.
This comes after several youth who failed to make it complained that politicians in the area were interfering with the process by bringing their preferable candidates to take up the available slots.
However, speaking in Nakuru during the exercise, Macharia stated that no individual was allowed to interfere with the process, and that the recruiting officers were keen on the requirements needed in the selection.
"Just like any other Kenyan, the politicians had a right to attend the exercise as observers and they did not influence the process in anyway. The selection process was done on merit and not because they were brought by any politician," Macharia stated in an interview with the media.
Many youth in various parts of Nakuru County turned up for the Monday exercise.
