Boinnet says that police reforms initiated during the Coalition government are still on course.

Speaking on NTV on Sunday, the IG said that the government is keen to streamline reforms in the police force.

He observed that a lot has been achieved in reforming the sector that has for years been dented.

“Police reforms are on course and we intend to ensure sanity in the sector,” he said during the interview. Boinnet cited the vetting of police officers saying that it will get rid of rogue officers who taint the sector.

He added that the government is implementing various programs aimed at boosting the welfare of all police officers.

The IG added that review of police officers salary is ongoing with aim of motivating the men and women in uniform.

He also said that adequate funds have been set aside to provide better housing structures for police officers across the country.

Boinnet at the same time warned rogue officers who taint the force saying that they will not be tolerated.

He said that disciplinary measures have been taken against officers who have in the past been involved in indiscipline acts.

Meanwhile, Boinnet has assured Kenyans of their safety ahead of the August polls.

The IG said that proper mechanisms are being formulated to guarantee peaceful general election slated for August 8 this year.
