A report issued by the Kenyan police says that 4 people lost their lives and eight others got injured in the violence that occurred in the aftermath of the Supreme Court ruling that upheld President Uhuru's re-election.

George Kinoti, the police spokesperson, said that three police officers were among the injured.

People died in Kibera and Kariobangi in Nairobi, Migori, and Kisumu.

Some of the deaths occurred as police acted in self-defense.

Kinoti also revealed that the violence took an ethnic dimension.

“The protests took an ethnic dimension. They profiled their targets and attacked business perceived to belong to non-locals. In all situations police restored calm and cleared roads,” he said according to a story by the Daily Nation.

NASA has disputed police figures, saying up to 30 people lost their lives in the Supreme Court petition aftermath.
