Police in Thika have vowed to apprehend the facilitators of demonstrations in Juja on Thursday after illegal alcoholic drinks were found among a number of youth.
According to Thika West DCIO Peter Mbuvi, the police have launched investigations into the matter and to find the source of the alcohol.
He says the demonstrating youth were drunk adding that they might have been incited and paid to do so while drunk.
The police arrested seven youth from the protests who are being interrogated to help police with investigations.
Mbuvi said that the incident had been facilitated by certain people in Juja saying police had information that the demonstrations had been planned since Monday.
"They were unable to execute it because the police had already intensified patrols in the area," he said.
Area OCPD Erastus Muthamia said police will also trace the source of the second-generation alcoholic drinks in the area and ensure they are destroyed.
“We are going to arrest anyone caught with the drinks as they must have been bought from around. With the 7 suspects we will get to the bottom of this,” Muthamia said.
