Police in Gilgil in have launched a search for the owner of a house in Pakawa estate where fake vehicle number plates and stolen goods were recovered on Thursday.

Police invaded the house as they searched for a vehicle which had been allegedly stolen during the passing out parade in Gilgil.

Speaking to the press, Nakuru police boss James Leila said they were on official duty at the Gilgil National Youth Service during the passing out parade when they received information that a vehicle belonging to a guest had been stolen.

“We received information that a vehicle belonging to a guest had disappeared and immediately launched investigation,” he said.

Mr Leila stated that they stumbled on the house after they received information from the members of the public and found about 10 sets of fake vehicle number plates and other goods.

He said no one was in the house during the raid, adding that they are looking for the owner and tenant of the house.

However, police recovered the Probox make vehicle that had been abandoned in Pipeline area. He said the vehicle was easily traced since it had a tracking system.

Mr Leila has since urged residents to help with information that will lead to arrest of the owner and tenant of the house.
