Police in Thika town have launched a manhunt for a suspect who stabbed a 15-year -old girl in Witeithie ward, Thika Sub County within Kiambu County.
Confirming the incident, Thika Deputy OCPD Mary Kiarie said the young girl had been sent to a nearby shop at around 9pm on Sunday night when she was attacked.
She said residents heard the girl scream, prompting neighbours to come to her rescue, but the man fled before they arrived leaving the young girl in an unconscious state where they rushed her to Thika Level Five Hospital.
“The assailant took off and disappeared into the darkness as soon as she began screaming attracting the neighbours near the shop she had gone to buy kerosene, having been sent by her mother at around 9pm,” she said.
The young girl’s mother reported the incident at Thika police station, with the police visiting the scene of the incident as they launched investigations.
The officer condemned the act, saying the person involved will be arrested with the current search going on.
This incident comes two days after another woman was stabbed by unknown person in the same area.
