Police in Molo are looking for two suspected rapists who are currently on the run.
One of the suspects is a man that is said to have run away after raping his mother while under influence of alcohol and bhang.
The suspect who was a regular visitor of a local den which was torched by irate residents on Monday is said to have committed the offense two weeks ago.
Residents said that after being reported at Elburgon police station, the suspect vanished for fear of being arrested by police.
A relative of the victim told reporters that the suspect came home from the den and ordered her mother to open her house and give him food. She said after being welcomed in the young man beat up her mother senselessly before raping her.
She was rescued by neighbours who found her half naked on a cold floor.
“I was the first to arrive at the scene and I was amazed to see the door open and our neighbour on the floor, I called more people so that we can together indentify what had happened that night," said Anne, one of the residents.
She said that the woman was given first aid before being rushed to provincial general hospital where she is currently being treated.
The area residents called for an urgent meeting and raised money to cater for her medication before calling on other relatives.
Meanwhile a 40 year old man is being sought by the police for allegedly having sexual affair with a twelve year old girl who was a class 7 pupil at Kibunja highway primary school.
The man who is a labourer went into hiding on Sunday after he eloped with the girl, and spent a night with her before locking her up in his house and going about his business.
Area chief Hassan Waweru said the girl was fished out of the house after a group of villagers who were searching for her were tippedoff.
Chief Waweru said the suspect was married before breaking up with his wife two years ago.
The girl narrated her ordeal. She said they have been having sex since last year, in Kibunja forest and at the home of the suspect.
“Police laid an ambush near the home of the suspect unfortunately he saw the police and runaway, we are confident that he will be arrested and arraigned in court. Such acts are giving Kibunja location a bad name," said chief Waweru
Molo OCPD Job Lesikinwa said that the police were hunting down the two suspects.
"We have taken statement from the girl, her father and mother; once the suspected is arrested he will be charged in court. Concerning the man who raped his mother I have directed Elburgon OCS to act immediately. Lesikinwa said.
