Police in Kilifi County are investigating an incident in which 555 rolls of bhang valued at Sh110,000 were discovered in a toilet.A police source revealed that the owner of the house fled after they raided the house on Saturday morning, The Star reports. Confirming the incident, Kilifi deputy police boss Peter Mutuma said they raided the house after receiving a tip off from Nyumba Kumi ambassadors, adding that the owner is likely to have been informed of their plans before they arrived there. “We received information there was bhang, which was being transported from a house in Mtaani and our officers swung into action. Our officers did not arrest anybody. We suspect the owner might have been tipped we were heading to the house,” said Mutuma, as quoted by The Star. The police boss also said that the bhang had been well-packaged in a traditional kiondo, two sacks and a suitcase. The officer called upon Public Service Vehicle (PSV) operators not to carry any luggage until they have verified the contents, in a bid to fight cases of drug trafficking.“We suspect this bhang was brought from other regions to Kilifi. This war should not be left to police alone, but should be fought by everyone. PSV operators have a duty to know the passengers they carry,” he added.
