According to Nairobi police boss, Japheth Koome, his officers intercepted a Pajero vehicle ferrying the weapons to Kibera slums.

"We received intelligence reports that a Pajero car was to transport grenades and slings to Kibera. We acted swiftly and thwarted the transportation," Koome said as he addressed journalists in his office on Saturday.

He further advised the public to keep off from the CBD on Monday, noting that the police would forcefully engage the opposition and their supporters in what he said is an illegal and unprotected demonstration.

‘'I have more than enough officers for Monday demonstration. I advise the public that if they have no business in the city, they should avoid it," he added.

However, the opposition insists that the court order issued only restricted them from engaging in violence but not demonstrating.
