A man in Kiharu, Murang'a County, is counting on luck to have a functioning manhood after police allegedly pulled his genitals leaving him with injuries during an arrest on Tuesday.
Officers from Kangoci Police Station were arresting the 31-year-old Joseph Mwangi for allegedly carrying bhang and undressed Mwangi while taking him to their vehicle.
Mwangi’s aunt, Jane Wanjiku, said he was seized at about 9pm from a bar at Gacharu Shopping Centre where she was selling soup and she allegedly pleaded with him not to resist arrest.
Wanjiku says he complied but the officers dropped his clothes to his feet and started pulling his private parts.
Mwangi was taken to Murang'a hospital for treatment before being taken to the cells.
Murang’a County Police Commander Naomi Ichami said investigations have been launched and if the arresting officers are culpable, they will be held accountable.
Mwangi, however, denied the charge when he was taken to court and was granted a Sh50,000 bond and remanded at Murang'a Prison.
