Police on Friday shot and killed three suspected gangsters in Nairobi’s Tena Estate.

Buruburu DCI Jeremiah Ikiao told Nairobi News that the trio, who were heavily armed, were shot after being trailed by police from Kayole police  station.

They were driving a silver Toyota Axio, he added.

He said the officers alerted their colleagues who then joined them in tracking down thesuspects.

“After pursuing them for a few meters, a shootout ensued and the three male occupants were shot dead on the spot, while one escaped,” he said, adding that they have launched a hunt for the suspect who they believe is also armed.

Police also recovered an AK 47 rifle, a Tokalev pistol, three bullets, a magazine, and motor vehicle number plate from them.

Other things that were recovered included several vehicle ignition keys, seven motor vehicle switches and four mobile phones.

The bodies of the dead were moved to the City Mortuary awaiting identification and

postmortem.
