Three tailors are nursing gunshot injuries after they were shot by police on patrol in Eldoret town on Thursday.
The tailors were in their shop when the incident happened.
24-year-old Felix Omondi who was shot in the rib, said the uniformed officers ordered them to open the gate, claiming they were pursuing robbers who had run away.
Their pleas that they were innocent, however, fell on deaf ears.
When the officers realised that the tailors were innocent, they collected the used cartridges and took the victims to a private hospital for treatment.
They then warned the victims against reporting the incident to the media.
One tailor is still admitted, while the other two have been discharged from hospital.
“We demand that police officers involved in the shooting be arrested for misusing firearms. They shot at us and inflicted serious injuries on our bodies,” said Otieno, one of the victims.
Eldoret West OCPD Samuel Mutunga confirmed the incident and assured that investigations were on-course to ascertain the claims.
