An altercation between Administration Police and Boda boda operators turned fatal after two women were shot dead by the police on Thursday, October 6th at Daraja Mbili Market in Kisii Town.
Administration Police Quick Response Team (APQRT) allegedly found a boda boda accident scene and tried to intervene when an argument between the policemen and the operators ensued.
The women tried to plea on the operators' behalf and that's when, according to a witness who spoke to The Standard, gunshots were heard.
The first woman died on the spot while the second one succumbed to injuries at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital, as confirmed by CEO Dr Enock Ondari.
The incident occurred at around a quarter to six, and by seven the body of the first woman was still lying on the road.
This comes amid heightened public discussions on extra-judicial killings.
