Nyamira County commissioner Isaiah Nakoru has warned police officers against taking bribes from illicit brewers.
Nakoru stated that he will not tolerate corrupt police officers who to taint his name while in office.
“I should not be blamed that I have failed in my duties. Security officers cracking down illicit brews should not spare suspects because they will go against the rule of law.
"Suspects must be arrested and taken to court to be charged for engaging in illegal dealings and police officers demanding bribes to release the suspects will be sent home,” he said.
Nakoru called on residents to report to police rogue traders still engaging in the outlawed business.
“Cases of illicit brew making and selling in Nyamira County have dropped and we expect zero cases by end of April,” he added.
