Thika West Deputy OCPD Mary Kiarie has revealed that police have information and are pursuing culprits who have been inciting and funding the wrangles experienced in Madaraka Market in Makongeni.

Speaking to the press at Thika Police Station this morning (Monday), the officer said that the police are holding five culprits in custody who are believed to have attacked a county official last week at the market and assaulted him.

County tax collector is said to have been assaulted by some men when he arrived at the market, an attack which left him nursing injuries. The tax collector reported the incident at Thika Police Station.

The OCPD has now said that the five will be arraigned in court immediately the police have full information and are done probing them.

Madaraka market has encountered several protests late and earlier this year and the police are still on the probe according to the officer to get all the people involved in planning and executing the protests which left two dead, scores injured and uncountable losses by the business persons.

Kiarie said they will not relent on discharging their law to the culprits once they shall have full information about master planners whom they have been pursuing for long.

The market is at the moment under heavy security guards following the incident and the officers are helping in levies collection.
