It took the intervention of the police to stop chaos from erupting between tenants of a plot in Maseno over a garbage disposal site.

The open garbage dump-site is located in front of two adjacent plots.

The two have been clashing over the dump-site for a long time and the respective landlords have not been able to solve their differences as it is believed they are not in good terms.

The dump-site is an open field which is next to Car Wash estate.

“Tenants of Kuya Estate keep dumping their waste here next to our plot. In fact at the entrance of our plot which are a disaster and a possible cause of disease outbreak. We have been warning them but they can’t listen.” said Eunice Wangeci, one of the tenants.

The other tenants however say the landlord authorised them to dump their waste there for they got no other place to dump.

Drama broke when one of the tenants of Kuya estate dumped garbage in the area who was spotted by one of Car Wash resident who threw back the garbage into Kuya Estate.

The two started exchanging words threatening to fight. The other tenants of both estates joined in saga exchanging words wanting to fight.

Police were called to calm the situation.

The respective landlords were not available for questioning.

“We have been patient for long enough enduring the bad smells yet we pay rent. That is very unfair," said Mark Yego one of the residents of Car Wash estate.

Maseno OCS promised to follow up on the matter and asked the two parties to remain calm and restore peace or stern legal action would be taken against anyone causing chaos.

The two landlords where expected to report to the police station to settle their differences.
