They are further accusing the police of subjecting them to torture whenever they fail to pay mandatory 'fee' when found on the 'wrong'.

Bosire Kerauni, a worker attached to Roller company says that a number of his colleagues were forced to flee to Kapenguria following threats by a number of GSU officers attached to the porous Pokot-Turkana border.

"We are going through hell here. The officers do not understand our responsibility and they have resorted to extorting money from us when they find us on the imposed mistake," he said.

Bosire added: "Some of my colleagues have returned home because of torture. They do not want us to even drive at night to safer places."

They further urged the local administration and Inspector General of police to intervene on the matter and instill discipline on errant officers.

The region has been a hot bod of cattle rustling and the government had responded by deploying more police officers to guard locals.
