A robbery attempt was thwarted by Thika police officers led by area OCPD Erastus Muthamia in Thika town on Tuesday evening.
According to Muthamia, the police received an anonymous call from a man who informed them that there was a planned robbery along the Thika-Blue Post lane in Section 2 estate at a hardware shop.
Police officers laid a trap and ambushed them allegedly trying to break into the shop arresting three suspects with one managing to escape.
Speaking to journalists in Thika town after the incident, Muthamia said that he is dedicated to ending the rising criminal activities in the area and flushing out criminals from Thika.
“We have to ensure Thika is clean and without any criminal gang. Those that are busy planning on how to attack people and steal from them should know that their days are numbered and that we are not going to sit and watch them as they harass the people,” he said.
He called for cooperation from members of the public in the area to ensure that they inform the police of any suspicious incident in their vicinities, especially during this festive season.
