The commissioner said that most motorists take advantage of weekends to flout traffic regulations.

He said that the highway is often busy from Friday to Sunday and that the patrols will also help nail criminals who take advantage of the situation to steal from motorists and pedestrians.

“The police will be conducting more patrols along the Nakuru-Nairobi highway to ensure safety of motorists during weekends,” he said.

Birik further said that security measures are in place to ensure safety of residents and tourists visiting the town area.

He intimated that police will continue to conduct surveillance in crime-prone areas in order to apprehend criminals.

The commissioner, however, called on residents to be alert and inform the police of any person with ill intentions that would disrupt peace.

On the same note, Birik asked residents to accommodate the views and opinions of others and desist from acts that will trigger hatred.

He said every Kenyan has a right and freedom to expression but the freedom should be exercised with responsibility.
