‘'The police escort of buses along Garissa and Mandera routes are going on smoothly as it has always been and at not even a single moment has the operation stalled,” stated Fredrick Shisia, the Mandera County Commissioner.

“We are and we shall continue providing armed security escort to all PSV buses but we firmly insist that no non-local shall be allowed into the buses plying Mandera and Kotulo areas,” added Shisia.

He further added that non-locals would be allowed into the buses just after the county security committee reviews the security situation after Ramadhan.

Any non-local passenger intending to get out of Mandera town has to use the longer Mandera-Takaba-Mayale route, proceeding to Marsabit then to Isiolo and finally Nairobi.
