Security in and around night clubs in Kisumu is set to get a boost in a bid to reduce cases of theft and mugging.

This comes after a directive from County Commander of Police Nelson Njiiri to heighten police patrol and surveillance around the night clubs.

“I have given a directive to the police to offer patrols and surveillance around night clubs to reduce cases of attacks by thugs. We are also going to take proper action to the found offenders as it is unlawful to commit such crimes,” he said.

Speaking to the press from his office today, Njiiri noted that most clients who leave the night clubs earlier than 4am in the morning are normally at risk of being attacked and their belongings stolen.

Njiiri added, “Such cases will be treated as criminal cases and the suspects arraigned in court as soon as possible.”

The police boss noted that most residents normally get attacked immediately they leave the night clubs for home late in the night and left helpless and in an unsafe state.

At the same time, the county commander warned parents against allowing minors to go to night clubs.
