Police in Uasin Gishu have been asked to investigate, arrest and prosecute individuals behind threats to the National Super Alliance (NASA) Presidential candidate Raila Odinga's supporters in the county.

NASA North Rift presidential campaigns coordinator Kipkorir Menjo claimed NASA supporters in the county have been warned that they will not be allowed to vote in the upcoming October 17 repeat presidential elections.

Addressing the press in Eldoret town, Thursday, Menjo said some of the NASA supporters have been told to prepare to either vote as per the majority in the county or pack and move out.

"We have received reports that some of our people are being threatened that they will not be allowed to vote and we want to ask security team to look into this issue so as to ensure every Kenyan in this county exercises his/her democratic right to vote for their preferred candidate," Menjo noted.

"Kenya is a democratic country and any attempts to force people to vote for certain individuals in an election should be condemned in the strongest terms possible," he added.

Uasin Gishu with 450,055 registered voters is considered a key Jubilee stronghold.

In the August 8 presidential elections results that were later nullified by the Supreme Court, President Uhuru Kenyatta garnered over 320,000 votes with Raila Odinga revived slightly over 70,000 votes in the county.
