Nairobi Police chief Japheth Koome now says they have not received any notification from Opposition coalition NASA over its planned swearing in of Raila Odinga.

According to Koome, police will seal off Uhuru Park to avoid unauthorized individuals from accesing it.

NASA has maintained that the event will take place at Uhuru Park despite Nairobi county government closing the facility for major renovations.

With the county government statement and today’s announcement from Koome, a showdown is clearly looming after NASA insisted on carrying out the event at the historic grounds.

NASA had stated that the swearing in will be cancelled if the government agreed to have dialogue.
