The police have sent out a strong warning to the NASA brigade ahead of the much-touted and much-anticipated swearing-in of its leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as President and Vice-President respectively.
According to Bernard Lepermarai, Nairobi Regional Coordinator, the ceremony scheduled for January 30 offends the constitution in every way and law enforcement agencies will not allow it to proceed.
''Let it be known that we will not allow it to take place because it is an illegal one. No one will be allowed to access the venue on that day,'' he said yesterday to the media.
These strong words come even as NASA remains adamant that the swearing-in ceremony is firmly on course as communicated to supporters.
Police also revealed that the venue had already been booked by other people, a reality that would pose a nightmare in terms of crowd control.
The warning from the police sets the stage for an inevitable bloody stand-off between the police and NASA supporters.
