Police in Nakuru on Tuesday raided an illegal factory manufacturing second generation alcohol in Milimani area.

The operation was led by Nakuru OCPD John Omukata ,Nakuru DCIO Henry Kiambati and Nakuru sub-county deputy county commissioner Elmi Shaffi who tipped off by members of the public.

"We thank the members of the public for giving us the information, I gathered my officers and we raided the premises and we recovered the items," Omukata was quoted on the Standard. 

Omukata said investigations were still going on in order to arrest the owner of the premises who is still at large.

"We did not manage to arrest the person behind the alcohol manufacturing but investigations are still going on. We will arraign them in court as soon as possible once we have them in custody," said Omukata. 

During the operation, raw ethanol, sealing machines, and fake KRA stickers were recovered with seven people being arrested.

Deputy county commissioner Elmi Shaffi said the owner of the house was a prominent politician but it was not clear whether the illegal plant belonged to him.

"The owner of this premise is known. He is a prominent senior politician in the country but we cannot name him till we finalise our investigation," said Shaffi.
