Following the recent attack at the Mombasa Central Police Station, security apparatus have been urged to step up efforts in gathering quality intelligence information to fight terrorism.
The Parliamentary Committee on National Security and Administration said more effort needs to be put in place to gather information in order to minimize the threat posed by terrorism.
Addressing journalists in Mombasa, committee chairman Asman Kamama condemned the attack at the station and the use of women and youth to commit acts of terrorism in the country.
Mr Kamama who is also the MP for Tiaty Constituency, called on the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet to ensure necessary precautions are taken to ensure that police stations which are now being targeted are well protected.
The committee chairman urged the security agencies to launch operations to identify and locate the financiers and commanders of the terror groups.
“It seems terrorists are resorting to attacking security institutions because this is the second attack after the Kapenguria police station attack that led to the killing of seven police officers,” said Mr Kamama.
