The commission chairman Johsntone Kavuludi led other commissioners in vetting the officers in an exercise that will last for six days.

First on the que was former Kisumu County Commander David Ngetich who has since been transferred to Nairobi.

Ngetich failed to produce O level certificates and original Kenya Revenue Authority certificates.

He was given 14 days to submit those documents to the commission for further probe.

Ngetich however told the commission to ensure that the county commanders’ positions are given to officers of higher ranks than their juniors.

Former Kisumu deputy county administration police commander Elisha Cherono failed to express himself in English language but was comfortable in Kiswahili.

The commission took issue with the large amounts of money being banked by his wife but Cherono explained that his wife normally takes loan of which she deposits in her accounts.

“My wife's sister lives a broad and she normally sends my wife some cash on monthly basis and that can explain the existence of the large amounts in her account,” Cherono explained.

Cherono who is now based in Laikipia County in the same position was hard pressed to explain how his wife manages to secure a monthly loan.

Nyamira County police commander Damaris Kinanu was also vetted and was given 14 days to produce bank statements of her in active bank account.

The bank account she produced only reflected the inflow of her salary and she told the commission that she has not engaged in any other business for income.

Kavuludi has in the meantime promised the officers that that the commission will uphold professionalism in handling the vetting process.
