The boda boda operators were protesting against harassment during a crackdown on unregistered motorbikes being conducted by the county traffic department and Likoni police.

But things took a twist when the operators gathered outside the police station and later marched to the area MP before returning back at the police station.

"The attack was well coordinated and they lured police to address them at Mshale grounds before turning against them and attacking the officers,"said Likoni police boss Willy Simba.

The police say the area MP should be held accountable for the attack that left one admitted in a hospital and scores injured.

But Mwahima defended himself saying they had gone to dialogue with the OCPD and claimed his "political enemies" were the ones who sent the group that caused the chaos.
