Police in Kisii have warned boda boda operators who intentionally hijack their customers and harm them in the process.
Area police boss Simon Kiragu said that cases of boda boda operators taking advantage of their customers were on the rise.
“The operators who take advantage of their business to harm the public should be warned. I encourage the public to report such cases so that the perpetrators can be arrested and arraigned in court,” said Kiragu.
This follows an incident where on Saturday May 24 evening, a resident commuting to Daraja Mbili was hijacked by a boda boda operator after she requested to be ferried home.
According to the victim, Ruth Kemunto, she was shocked when the boda boda operator that was ferrying her demanded for her blood.
“I was surprised when the boda boda operator slowed down got hold of me and demanded my blood,” she said.
She further added that had it not been for a passerby, her fate had been sealed and the man could have killed her.
“I only freed myself after a passerby approached and i ran for my dear life,” said Kemoga.
She said that most boda boda operators are hard to tell whether they are good people or not, as they pose as business friendly people only to uncover their beastly acts after they get an opportunity.
In the recent past, cases of boda boda operators hijacking and assaulting their unsuspecting customers have been noted, raising alarm amongst residents.
