Molo residents have been urged to be cautions when using major roads in the sub-county to help reduce accident cases in the area.
Area traffic police boss Richard Masinde identified the Molo-Olengurone road, Molo-Nakuru road and Nakuru-Eldoret highway as the roads users should be more careful about.
The officer noted that this month of August has recorded more accidents compared to years.
More than five people died last week, three being on the Nakuru-Eldoret highway while the other two perished after a lorry transporting Irish potatoes veered off the road and rolled several times.
Kibunja, Sachang’wan slopes and Salgaa have been marked as black spots by the Molo traffic department. The notorious spots have claimed many lives since the upgrading of the Nakuru-Eldoret highway.
Masinde said, “Long distance trailer drivers cause accidents mostly due to speeding and dangerous freewheeling from Kibunja to Salgaa. Fatigue is also another cause and long distance transport companies should employ at least two qualified drivers to support each other.”
He added that stern action will be taken against those flouting traffic rules as a move to bring sanity on the roads.
