Police in Nairobi has arrested three people as they tried to sell 25kg of ivory worth more than Sh1 million.
The three, a policeman and two civilians, had identified a potential buyer and approached him to transact business.
"Through our intelligence, we were able to arrest them as they tried to sell off the ivory. They are under interrogation and will take plea soon," Kenya Wildlife Service spokesperson Ngugi Gachaga told the Standard.
The suspects were locked up at the Lang'ata Police Station and will be arraigned in court for being in possession and trafficking ivory.
The seizure comes in wake of rising poaching cases in the country.Gachaga said the seizure reveals up to three elephants were slaughtered.
Police are yet to establish the source of the ivory.
